Readers Group or whatnot...

for those of you interested in getting together every weekend (or so) this fall and discussing a pre-assigned book that we've all read, I thought that maybe we could start to organize the suggestions a wee bit more.

So... just comment and put them in your comment :)

i'm interested.

however, i currently have no suggestions. i shall have to peruse around (i was going to peruse something, but i forgot what) so i can come to you with more intelligent suggestions.

yes.
well, we should perhaps put up

1984

Great Gatsby

(b/c we had earlier decided these were good ones)

possibly Mere Christianity as well?
yes, i think the latter as well. and maybe we could read the book that zooromancer mentioned in our discussion group?

maybe you should post this there? (or did you? i've forgotten now that i think about it...)
i see. :o)

*ahem*

i'm glad you posted this here, elyse. yes, good idea... indeed.
nope, didn't post it, but you can do that if you really want (I actually forgot the book title). Put it up under a new post though, b/c replies to post tend to get very tiny after a while ;)
i'd nearly forgotten about this discussion forum. if you really are going to have the weekly book discussions, please let me know.

some big name authors: Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy, Joseph Conrad, Kurt Vonnegut, Oscar Wilde...and why just read novels? Lets read essays, poetry, short stories, etc...

i sincerely hope we do this. :o) Great idea Elysium.
